Health literacy has been my passion for 30 years, since before the field even had a name. My first two careers, teaching deaf children and working in adult basic education at the local, state, and national levels, greatly inform my health literacy and plain language work. I'm a consultant and workshop leader with clients across the U.S. I have presented internationally and trained over a thousand individuals in creating reader-friendly, plain language information.
I was the Senior Health Literacy Specialist, implementing a health literacy initiative in an academic, safety-net hospital for several years. My time there also informs my work in helping professionals and organizations implement health literacy initiatives and strategies.
I love cycling the many miles of trails in sunny Albuquerque, growing up and living in a culturally-diverse city, and road trips!
