The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Center for Health Literacy developed this resource collection. The collection includes the following plain language resources for researchers:

Plain Language Informed Consent Form Template (for Research): This template is a health-literate research consent template that complies with the Common Rule. Our research has shown that our template has improved the overall readability level of nearly all of the IRB-approved, investigator-initiated consent forms at UAMS.
Plain Language HIPAA Research Authorization: This new template improves the readability of the HIPAA authorization template researchers use to seek permission to collect, create, and share personal health information from study participants. This form reads just under a grade 7 reading level.
Plain language tips to share your research with lay audience: This sheet offers simple strategies you can use to make oral presentations easier for lay audiences to understand.
Engaging Stakeholders in Research through Clear Communication: This 1-hour presentation from CHL provides the rationale for using clear communication in research and introduces tangible practices study teams can implement.
