Session summary: A teaching kitchen, focusing on culinary nutrition is one approach to improving quality of life through informed health literacy, create increased healthy life expectancies and reduce health care costs. This is a tangible learning environment where participants of all ages are given education in basic cooking techniques, self-care topics, proper nutrition, physical activity and motivational interviewing. A teaching kitchen program accessible for youth and adult populations; provides the outlet for persons to improve, delay and prevent diet-related diseases.
