This training is designed to provide useful information about strategic services and skills for community health workers who work with limited English proficiency (LEP) clients in various healthcare settings. This training will focus on how to develop information that accommodates both health literacy and language needs. It will also include examples of effective materials for LEP clients. The application of the information from this training will reduce health disparities and inequities, while advancing healthier and more equitable outcomes in the most vulnerable communities. This will be an interactive webinar. The trainer and the trainees will all have expertise to share with one another. Come and join this session. Let us all learn together!
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe & identify 4 common barriers to communication for LEP patients/stakeholders in healthcare settings.- Identify and describe 4 health literacy strategies for successful engagement with LEP patients/clients.- Name 4 strategies to design effective materials to communicate with LEP clients.
Belinda Gonzalez Hampton, MBA, CHW, CHWICommunity Engagement AdvocateTexas Association of Charitable ClinicsBelinda Gonzalez Hampton is Community Engagement advocate with over 20 years of experience in engaging youth, seniors, and community health leaders with teaching, training, serving on boards and committees all while promoting health equity and sound community health strategies for vulnerable populations in our communities. Ms. Hampton especially writes and conducts training on working with our Limited English Proficient populations in our health care settings. Belinda currently works for the Texas Association of Charitable Clinics, a state non-profit organization that supports clinics state-wide that work with the underinsured and low-income populations in the great state of Texas. She holds an MBA in organizational training and is a certified Community Health Worker and Instructor by the State of Texas.
