A Systematic Review of Health Literacy Interventions for People Living With HIV

01-15-2024 07:10 AM

This 2017 article by Joseph Perazzo and colleagues discusses a systematic review. The review included studies on health literacy interventions for people living with HIV.

Researchers stated that some of the studies found improvements in patients’ adherence to treatment. However, most of the studies weren’t statistically significant—largely because of the limitations of their methods.

Researchers advised healthcare providers who serve people living with HIV to:

  • ·      Use more intense patient education about treatment adherence with patients who have lower health literacy.
  • ·      Use visual and technological tools to improve patient education.
  • ·      Teach patients how to find reliable health information online.
