In this 2022 review article, Yuji Kanejima and colleagues discuss their systematic review and meta-analysis on the link between health literacy and deaths, hospital readmissions, and quality of life in patients with heart disease. They found that low health literacy was significantly associated with increased deaths and readmissions and decreased quality of life in patients with heart disease.
