Ten Attributes of Health Literate Health Care Organizations

This influential 2012 discussion paper by Cindy Brach et al. provides a useful framework for assessing organizational health literacy. Organizations can use the 10 overarching attributes to focus their health literacy efforts, and then assess and monitor their progress over time. Considering all of these areas can help organizations develop a combination of strategies that lead to sustained improvement.
