Clinical Conversations Training Program

Erin Seger developed this training program for the National Library of Medicine. The program aims to train clinicians and other clinical staff who interact with patients on seven topics:

  • Health literacy
  • Cultural humility
  • LGBTQ+ affirming care
  • Social determinants of health
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Shared decision making

To minimize participant burden, the program lets clinical trainers or managers embed brief trainings into regular staff meetings or trainings that they already facilitate. Its built-in discussion points encourage conversation so participants learn from one another.

The program is flexible and can be delivered in a number of ways. It includes three evaluations.
