Why Plain Language Should Be Part of Your Internal Communications, Too

Session summary: At last year’s conference, Literacy Works facilitated a roundtable discussion on internal communication. The turnout exceeded our expectations and participants expressed a critical need for more effective communication within their organizations. This year, we’re taking the conversation to folks in leadership positions and sharing explicit strategies for how they can meet the communication needs of their teams and colleagues.

In this session, we will talk about the importance of clear communication behind the scenes in health settings and how leaderships, from program managers to executive leadership, can make plain language the standard for internal communication.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize an internal organizational communication challenge

  • Identify and apply at potential solutions for their organization

  • Identify ways to develop a reflective practice when it comes to communication
