Use of a Think Aloud Activity to Explore Faculty Perceptions about Health Literacy Practices in Physical Therapist Education Curricula

Knowledge of specific details about health literacy content and practices in physical therapist professional education curricula and clinical care remains limited (Briedwell et al., 2020, February 12-15; Stephens et al., 2020, October 16-18). This poster will report on a online, interactive think aloud activity (Charters, 2003) utilized during remote interviews with physical therapist faculty to study their insights about consensus recommended health literacy practices (Coleman et al., 2013b; Coleman et al., 2017) and to explore their thoughts about the relative importance of addressing each individual practice in curricula. The think aloud activity can be modified and used to develop awareness, knowledge and understanding about health literacy and health literacy practices in academia and clinical practice among health literacy stakeholders.
