Session summary: My Life My Story (MLMS) is a novel program and an evidence-based practice employed in the Veterans Health Administration healthcare system. It uses personal narratives to facilitate positive engagement and collaboration between Veteran patients and their providers. Data confirm that patients experience health benefits — reduction in provider visits and improved immune response in patients with chronic illnesses — upon completion of a narrative session. Participants attending this session will be introduced to MLMS program basics, including how to develop, implement, and manage a storytelling program in their workplace.
