Poster abstract
: Statistical literacy is an important part of health literacy. The amount of statistical information presented to patients about diagnoses, treatments and outcomes is significant and it is thus important to understand how statistical literacy is being conceived of as related to health literacy as a whole. Given the desire to improve health outcomes and patient understanding, it is imperative that we understand everything that falls under the umbrella of health literacy. This project examines the prevalence of statistical literacy’s inclusion in the health literacy literature via meta-analysis. Following this review, new directions for inclusion of statistical literacy can be created.
