On-Demand: Language Matters: Reducing Stigma Around Problem Gambling

This training focuses on increasing awareness and understanding of problem gambling while emphasizing the importance of language in shaping attitudes, reducing stigma, and supporting recovery. Participants will learn to identify what problem gambling is, recognize key warning signs, and understand its impacts on individuals, families, and communities. The session explores how commonly used words, phrases, and visuals can unintentionally reinforce stigma and discourage people from seeking help. Participants will also examine examples of harmful or judgmental language and develop skills to replace them with respectful, person-centered, and humanizing alternatives that promote dignity and compassion.
