On-Demand: Cultivating Community-Based Death Literacy

We know health literacy affects our ability to navigate life choices until and through our final days. Increasing death literacy can lead to more empowered, informed decision-making. This includes understanding the physiological process of dying, recognizing what quality end-of-life care entails, being knowledgeable about death care systems, and knowing what support is available locally and virtually. Presenters Meagan Williams and Francesca Lynn Arnoldy share their collaborative work to educate communities through engaging, supportive programming and address this under-recognized need.

Objectives:

  •  Identify foundational elements of death literacy.

  •  Explore how personal experiences and beliefs about death influence communication and engagement.

  •  Identify resources to support further learning and implementation.
