Health literacy workshop and interactive filmmaking in Split, Croatia

From October to November 2024, we conducted a community-based project that consisted of exposing children to evidence-based resources to empower future decision-making about health-related information, especially on social media. The children formulated their own research questions, answered them, and appraised the quality of commonly encountered social media content. Additionally, they created short films based on their own experiences, using the Vyond movie creator tool, to educate other pupils on appraising evidence in health-related content. In the future, we envision that increased levels of children’s health literacy after workshops will enable health-related decision-making based on high-quality, reliable medical sources.
