Learn about neurodiversity and how to think broadly about creating accessible communications. Just like improving the accessibility of physical spaces, there are concrete steps we can take to make the information we share more understandable and usable. We’ll start by discussing what neurodiversity is and thinking about some of the barriers that prevent people from accessing services they need. We’ll talk through strategies together and you’ll get to reflect on what you can do to widen the welcome in your own work. This interactive session uses group discussion and analysis of real-life examples to help you apply what you’re learning.
Objectives:
-
Explain the connections between neurodiversity, universal design, and plain language.
-
Identify ways to improve the accessibility of their own content.
-
Apply one to two strategies for increasing accessibility in documents, presentations, and more
