Concepting Comprehensive Content for Families Facing Sickle Cell Disease

Presenter(s)
Beth Bartholomew MA, MAT - Senior Medical Content Writer, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Poster abstract: The Together by St. Jude ™ online resource for families facing childhood cancer is expanding to include content on blood disorders including sickle cell disease (SCD). SCD is a common blood disorder in the U.S. It occurs in about 1 in every 365 Black births. The team worked with partners to create a landscape analysis, conduct interviews with families and providers, and complete research to build a framework for topics beyond disease and treatment information to build a comprehensive resource.

Content around advocacy was deemed vital. Families and providers wanted content to share with educators and emergency care providers.
