Closing Plenary- Indigenizing Environmental Health Literacy: The Importance of Relationality and Place-Based Knowledge in Promoting Health and Well-Being

Description: Relationality, a central value in many Indigenous cultures, encompasses connectedness to family, community, elders, and the land. Extending concepts of relationality into an Environmental Health Literacy Framework can be used to strengthen efforts to improve community health and well-being. Guardians of the Living Water is an example of an Indigenous-led research partnership that uses an environmental health literacy framework complemented by a participatory research approach to address local water-related environmental health inequities. The partnership highlights recommendations for promoting equitable environmental health education and research.
