I am the Community Engagement and Health Literacy Librarian at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Previously, I was the Consumer Health Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern Atlantic Region. I have over twenty five years experience working in public, academic and special libraries with an undergraduate educational background in nursing and the health sciences. My area of expertise over the last decade and a half is health literacy and consumer health. My duties have run the gamut in libraries, from a paraprofessional role through management. I have significant experience providing instruction, both one-on-one, as well as large classes of medical students, including online classes. I have developed classes on topics such as health literacy, veteran's health resources, consumer genetics and patient informatics. I am passionate about providing assistance and services in support of health literacy and clear health communication, outreach and education.
