In
part 1, attendees learned the basics of digital accessibility issues and simple strategies for improvement. In this webinar, we will dive deeper into digital accessibility techniques and good design practices for electronic presentations and documents. Building on the concepts covered in part 1, attendees will see simple techniques for building accessibility into the workflow. The presenter will demonstrate the use of built-in layouts, building custom layouts, inserting alt text for images, and creating meaningful hyperlinks. Attendees will see the built-in accessibility checkers and the process of reviewing and fixing problem elements. The techniques will be demonstrated in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Google Slides. In addition, attendees will see a simple method for providing closed captioning during webinars with slide presentations using Google Slides. Objective 1: check and fix errors with the help of accessibility checkers Objective 2: integrate accessibility into the workflow using built-in tools and simple techniques Objective 3: know additional tools and resources for future reference

About the speakers
Kelli Ham MLISCommunity Engagement LibrarianKelli Ham is currently the Community Engagement Librarian at NNLM PSR, the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Southwest Region, at the UCLA Biomedical Library in Los Angeles. Kelli is responsible for outreach, health literacy education, and community partnerships in the region. To improve access to information for all users, Kelli provides training and assistance on electronic accessibility and usability of digital content. Kelli helps librarians and health providers imagine, develop, and deliver innovative programming and clear messaging about health and wellness, environmental health, and digital health literacy. Kelli will be retiring from UCLA on July 1, 2020.
