Mobile Health Clinics have demonstrated an ability to address health inequities while cutting overall medical costs. Delivering care into the heart of a community reduces barriers such as lack of transportation, childcare, and income. Many mobile clinics also ensure that language, cultural and insurance barriers are addressed. Effective communication before, during, and after the visit is key to engaging patients and gaining trust. This panel brings together three different models of mobile healthcare delivery to share experiences and lessons learned: Stony Brook Medicines Mobile Mammography program, Mount Sinai South Nassaus COVID-19 Vaxmobile, and Molloy Colleges Community Care mobile clinic.
Objectives:
- Name at least 3 common barriers to accessing medical care at a traditional facility and explain how a mobile health clinic addresses those barriers.
- Discuss the importance of effective communication to engage patients and gain trust in a mobile healthcare setting.
- Identify at least 4 issues to consider when launching a mobile healthcare clinic.

Angela Malone, CHES
Coordinator of Clinical Services
Angela Malone, CHES, is Coordinator of Clinical Services at Molloy College where she provides support to campus clinics and the college's mobile outreach program. Ms. Malone is experienced in working with vulnerable populations including those with justice involvement and elderly patients, helping them to address medical, behavioral health, and social determinates of health needs. Ms. Malone holds a B.A. in psychology from Wheeling University and a M.A. in health communication from Emerson College.
Ethel Ulrich, DNP, APRN, ANP-BC
Associate Professor & Director, DNP Program
Dr. Ethel Ulrich, Associate Professor and Director of the DNP program in the SON & HS at Molloy College, is a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Ulrich has 37 years of varied experience providing care to diverse populations. Her research and practice focus on heart disease prevention and care of historically marginalized populations. She has participated in multiple international medical missions and is the co-medical director of the Molloy College Community Health Van.
Dana Sanneman
Vice President, Public Affairs & Development
Ms. Sanneman oversees the implementation of strategic communications and development programs at MSSN. She coordinates the hospitals strategic messaging in collaboration with stakeholders and community advocates. Ms. Sanneman coordinates the hospitals development plans. She directs the hospitals Truth in Medicine poll and Vaxmobile, the regions first mobile vaccination bus. Ms. Sanneman holds a Master of Public Administration in public and nonprofit management and policy from NYUs Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
Patrick Dineen, MD, MBA
Mobile Mammography Program Coordinator
Patrick Dineen has helped lead the Mobile Mammography team at Stony Brook Hospital since early 2019, building the program to screening over 5,000 women and diagnosing 23 cancers. Dr. Dineen played NCAA Division 1 ice hockey at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and played minor league professional ice hockey before earning his Medical Degree and MBA in Multi Sector Healthcare Administration from St. Georges University School of Medicine and School of Business.
