Now more than ever, it is vital to get health information delivered digitally to the public in a timely and clear fashion. While plain language isn’t a new field, it has recently experienced growing pains in the face of COVID-19. Panelists will share their experiences and takeaways for how to improve plain language efforts:
• Phoebe Brauer, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is a content manager in the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Office. She has been instrumental in keeping coronavirus.gov up to date and has a unique perspective on balancing leadership priorities with public needs.
• Ahava Leibtag, Aha Media Group, LLC, has 20+ years of experience in content and has consulted with some of the world’s largest firms to attract and grow their audiences. She is the president and owner of Aha Media Group, LLC, a copywriting, content strategy and content marketing consultancy, and the author of The Digital Crown: Winning at Content on the Web. She loves a great logic puzzle, a long game of Apples to Apples and anything that has chocolate.
• Katie Kline, Bixal, is an award-winning communications professional, content strategist and NNG-certified UX designer, with more than 15 years' experience designing and maintaining websites, including serving as the technical and UX lead in a reimagining of a health nonprofit website. Her passions include presenting content and designing user interfaces to be easy and engaging for users to navigate and interact with.
